PREREQUISITES

What is required for installation

Installation requires a person with Azure Global Administrator role in portal.azure.com and one with tenant settings access in the Power BI Admin Portal.

Azure Active Directory performed by the Azure Global Administrator

  1. Create an application in Entra ID (app registration)
  2. Create a new group in AD
  3. Add the Service Principal to this group
  4. Create a Fabric Capacity or Power BI Embedded resource in Azure (optional if using Fabric Trial)
  5. Add the Service Principal to the Contributor role on the capacity (optional)
  6. Add the Service Principal as Power BI Capacity Administrator (optional)
  7. Access admin.powerembedded.com.br and authorize the app in your organization
  8. Access relatorios.powerembedded.com.br and authorize the app in your organization

Power BI Administration Portal performed by the Fabric Administrator

  1. Enable the settings below and allow the AD group created:
    • Embed content in apps
    • Service principals can use Fabric APIs
    • Service principals can access read-only admin APIs
    • Enhance admin API responses with detailed metadata
    • Allow XMLA endpoints and Analyze in Excel
  2. Associate workspaces with the contracted or trial capacity resource
  3. Add the AD group as workspace administrator
